I went on craigslist because my doctor told me my back pain is caused by stiff muscles and I need a full body massage. I have never had one before but don’t want to accidentally go to a ᴘʀosтιтuтe or have it be a cop or something trying to entrap people like they do.

Draping optional means having a covering such as a towel covering your buttocks at your discretion. Although draping discouraged means the masseuse prefers for you to not use one, as the skin contact is better.
In my opinion, having a towel makes the massage less enjoyable. Try to avoid backstreet allies obviously, and look in the telephone directory. There you will find real massage parlours, and not a tart’s boudoir.

Edit : I strongly doubt that the women will not have given someone an ᴇʀᴇcтιoɴ before. You need to just forewarn them if they say turn over that one might happen, and you hope it doesn’t offend them. These masseurs are very open minded normally, and it will not be the first time it has happened to them.

I think it would be safe to say that most theʀᴀᴘιsт feel that the massage is more effective if there is direct skin contact. However, most also realize that some people are just too modest for that.
And if you just want a real the ɾąքҽ utic massage, then simply avoid any ads that promise a “happy ending”. (Though, frankly, those can have the ɾąքҽ utic value as well. imo)
In Texas, we have massage parlors such as MassageEnvy.com where the client chooses the type of massage needed. Long before the massage begins, the client gets to talk to the theʀᴀᴘιsтs and admin staff about reasons for being there. You have a choice of male or female theʀᴀᴘιsт. ᴇʀᴇcтιoɴs are expected from males and are ignored because it is a natural response of being ɴuᴅε or uncovered. The fees are minimal at first and gradually increase depending on the type of massage and frequency of attending. If, during the first interview, you don’t feel comfortable with being there, there is no charge and you can walk out.

Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time – the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks – don’t listen.
I don’t necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

The problem is that you’re looking for a massage on craigslist, which probably implies a happy ending massage. Go to a reputable massage theʀᴀᴘιsт (Massage Envy, mentioned by a previous poster) is a great place. Or, call the doctor who suggested you get one and ask for a recommendation.
