Where did the quote,”smoke me a kipper, and I’ll be back for breakfast?” come from & what does it mean?

People Reviews

I’ve seen reference to Red Dwarf — a british sitcome series, science fiction… I’m assuming it’s a line from that but I would like more details if possible.

It is indeed from Red Dwarf.
It is spoken by an alternate reality version of Rimmer – where Rimmer is a hero. It is a jokey ᴘιss-take of those 50’s war dramas, where pretty much any nonsense is spoken as long as it sounds cool!

It is originally a line from a black and white war film, Red dwarf used the line for Ace Rimmer to highlight his stupidity as he says the line incorrectly. In the original film it was part of the stiff upper lip, brave in the face of adversity attitude of a pilot who is posssbly about to fly to his death saying I’m not going to die Ill be back

Don’t know but it sounds like Groucho Marx.
