If I say, ‘It interests me to no extent’, what does that mean?
Good question, because it can have two opposite meanings! “Not at all” is the more literal meaning of the phrase, but be careful when people use it to mean the opposite.
“Extent” can mean “degree” or “end” so “to no extent” generally means “to no degree” or “not at all,” but people sometimes use it to mean “to no end” or “endlessly,” which has the opposite meaning…
“It interests me to no extent” would literally mean “it doesn’t interest me at all,” though some people might take it as “I am endlessly interested in it.”
That’s a phrase i use very often. To an extent means, that you can put up with someone or something but only to a certain point. So if the boy said he liked you to an extent than that means, Well your okay but after awhile i can’t deal with you. So yeah, it’s not hate but your not exactly his best friend either.
