Meaning of Slighted love?

Hi , English is not my mother tongue , I came across the phrase ”Slighted love” which is the meaning of a yellow chrysanthemum flower , i didn’t quite understand ,what does ”slighted love” mean ?!

Love which is not reciprocated, where the person loved scorns the affection of the person loving. There is a great deal of hurt in the expression. I’d love to know how the chrysanthemum came by such a name!

Slighted Meaning

To “slight” something means to treat it as if it were not important. So “slighted love” is love that is not taken seriously, or is taken for granted.
