well cindy lauper could see your true colors so the meaning might have to do with someone’s feelings
I would say it means “wash away my identity”, so the colors would be apart of who he is, and I believe I’ve seen this metaphor before where humans are very complex, and so we use colors to describe that, and say that people are made up of many shades (of color), and so colors are equal to being who someone is.
