A. so you don’t discharge
Marine Y Valve
the valve should be safety wired in the direction of only allowing it to go to tank.Let the coast gaurd catch it in any other direction and you will get fine if they want to. most of the time you will get warning or may have to safety wire it before they leave.

If your marine toilet has a “Y” valve, what must you do in a No Discharg
If you are visiting a marine park, be sure to familiarize yourself with the “No Discharge Zone” signs. This is an area where marine life is protected and human waste is not allowed to enter the water. If you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in a No Discharge Zone and your marine toilet has a “Y” valve, here are some tips for safely exiting the zone: 1. Close the valve completely, then wait five minutes for it to flush. 2. Turn the handle on the side of the toilet all the way to left (counter-clockwise). This will fill up the tank with fresh water and create a suction that will pull waste down into the sewage system. 3. Wait two minutes, then turn the handle back to its original position and flush.
