What does Silver Sun Pickups’ song Lazy Eye mean?

People Reviews

I know what a lazy eye is, but I can’t help but wonder if the song was written about Galileo Galilei. The bridge part, “It’s the room the sun and the sky” makes me really think of Galileo. Not to mention Galileo had a lazy eye like no other.

This song is actually realizing when you’re with someone that it is the imperfections that make you love them. Hence the “lazy eye”.

“I think it is the same tendency in us that makes it difficult to let go of things in our own lives (whether it be a relationship or a dream or whatever) that keeps us always looking backwards in all things. We definitely have a ‘lazy eye’ when it comes to music.”

Lazy Eye Lyrics

Amazing that ppl that don’t know the answer go on and on like they do. The lead singer had lazy eye. He got an operation go fix it. The moment he was waiting for was being able to be around people without his eyes looking in two directions.

The relevance to all of us is that bitter sweet moment where something has made us happier but was a bit of a letdown because it wasn’t everything we dreamed.

The song is, generally, about being in love with someone. “I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life” sums it up pretty nicely. Everyone is always waiting to fall in love. The “Lazy Eye” can mean two things. One is when you shoot glances at someone you’re interested in out of the corner of your eye, like a lazy eye that keeps wandering. The line reads “with the same ol’ decent lazy eye” also implying that it means loving someone, despite their imperfections. “Everyone’s so intimately rearranged. Everyone’s so focused clearly on sunshine” Once you fall in love, it is true that you see things through a whole new light. Everything looks happier and you like to think that the sun is always shining. “The room, the sun, the sky” is relating to his “everything”. At that point in time, when he is falling in love, that is all that exists. The singer is saying that love is all that he has, its the room, the sun, and the sky. I hope this helped.

Galileo did NOT have a lazy eye, Maybe the question you should’ve adked is “what is a lazy eye?”

Answer 7

This is about the bar scene and picking up girls being imperfect.”But it’s not quite right.” Lazy eye is watching the girls with seduction in mind. “To appear sad.” is to enhance the chances of attracting a girl. When he sings “It’s so fun to relate” with such overdone intensity it’s poking fun at the bar trollers. Just my thoughts….
