the song is who i am hates who i’ve been by Relient k, and part of the lyrics are “i watch the proverbial sunrise coming up over the pacific” i know what proverbial means but i still don’t understand what he means when he says it. anyone care to help? thnx

Proverbial in this case means “commonly spoken of.” Interesting, don’t you think, as the sun rises in the east?

Maybe it was written somewhere that the Pacific ocean is in the East. I bet more people see the sunrise over the Pacific ocean than any other ocean. IE Australia
