although ezpass.com says it’s on the —->This is the alpha-numeric code at the rear of the tag between the mounting strips.
we must have different EZ passes. Mine just wroks as it passes under the toll

I question why they would require [the validation] number, one that the ordinary human brain can’t figure out at 2 am while trying to pack at the last minute the night before a road trip?
I do believe e-zpass.com would do it’s customers a great service if they would put the converter link on their site (giving Junie major props for figuring it out & sharing, of course…), because if I hadn’t googled the question, I would’ve literally thrown the transponder against the wall in frustration.

Thanks Junie, and for anyone else who is missing the label for hexadecimal transponder number on back here is a converter you can use:

Put the (11 digit?) number from the from the front (non-velcro strip side) of the transponder into the “Decimal” field of the converter and hit enter. Then copy the resulting hexadecimal number it spits out and paste into your registration form.
This drove me nuts since all that I saw on the back of the thing was Model#/ FCC ID and Canadian FCC ID (IC). Call center closed while I was on hold to top it off.
