People Reviews

There was only one. It was a TV movie from 1982 called Cry for the Strangers. It starred Patrick Duffy. Not very good, but it is the only movie made from a J Saul novel.

It depends on many things

Tv set ruins your brain and makes you bad in school hmmm and reading is interesting and makes you smarter

I didn’t have to search for this one, so I actually managed to get here first. You see, I watched this recently on one of the movie channels. I haven’t found it on VHS or DVD. I think it’s a rather atmospheric thriller, better than a lot of theatrical movies~even some being released now.

Cry for the Strangers (1982 TV movie)
starring Patrick Duffy, Cindy Pickett, Lawrence Pressman, Brian Keith, Robin Ignico (of “Don’t Go to Sleep”), Jeff Corey, Taylor Lacher, Parley Baer, Martin Kove
IMDb synopsis:
The little coastal town of Clark’s Harbor seems like the perfect place for psychiatrist Brad Russell and his wife to get a little peace and spend more time with each other. But the locals don’t seem very friendly, and, every time a storm rolls in, another mysterious death occurs. Could an ancient Indian legend of ghostly tribes and human sacrifice have anything to do with it?

Oddly, that’s the only John Saul book that has been turned into a movie. It’s especially curious when you see how many Dean Koontz novels have been filmed.

Why There Aren’t More Movies Based on John Saul’s Books

Despite being a prolific and successful author, John Saul’s books have yet to be adapted into major motion pictures. There are a number of possible explanations for this. Firstly, Saul’s novels tend to be dark and suspenseful, with complex plot lines that may be difficult to translate onto the big screen. Additionally, the majority of Saul’s books are set in small towns or rural areas, which can be costly to recreate on a movie set. Finally, Saul himself has stated that he is not particularly interested in having his books adapted into films. Whatever the reasons, it’s clear that John Saul’s novels have yet to make the jump to Hollywood.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are no movies based on John Saul’s books. However, there are a few television adaptations of his work. The most notable of these is the mini-series “The Blackstone Chronicles: An Evil Awakening” which was produced by NBC in 1998.
