What religion requires women to wear skirts?

(Or at least not wear pants…)

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” This verse — Deuteronomy 22:5 — is one of the most commonly quoted and debated verses in the Old Testament.
Some Christians have taken this verse to mean that Christian women shouldn’t wear pants, arguing that pants are that which “pertaineth unto a man.” Many sincere and honest Christians have grappled with this issue, wanting to be pleasing to God. This teaching, as with all teachings regarding the scriptures, needs to be carefully examined. It is just as much an error to teach something that the scriptures don’t say as it is to ignore what the scriptures do say.
The teaching that it is wrong for Christian women to wear pants is based upon the following beliefs:
1) Deut 22:5 teaches that women should not wear that which pertains unto a man.
2) Pants pertain to a man because they were not only exclusively invented for men, but they also have historically been worn only by men.
3) The Bible teaches separation of the sexes and since there is so little distinction between men’s and women’s pants, they are essentially unisex and therefore do not provide adequate separation
I am Apostolic and when I got saved that is how I was taught.
I have been saved for years and now I wear pants now and then. I still prefer dresses and skirts though.

Most of the Pentecostal churches such as Assemblies of God, Four Square, etc., require their women to wear skirts or culottes. Some Baptist churches also want their women to wear skirts or dresses to church — no slacks.
I know from experience about the Assemblies of God churches, having been humiliated from the pulpit when I was visiting with friends at their church. I didn’t have a dress with me on this particular visit, so I was wearing a nice pantsuit. The pastor made a big point of telling people that it was their responsibility to make sure that their guests were “properly dressed,” all the while staring straight at me.
Considering that this guy weighed over 300 pounds and once had to crawl out of a buffet because he was too stuffed to walk, I felt that he might have been a *tad* hypocritical.

The Bible says for woman to always wear woman’s clothes. It does not say a dress is required. But that to wear men pants if you are a woman is wrong
Back 2,000 years ago, the only country were men were pants was China because of how cold it was. And the woman wore pants in China too.
In Israel men wore maxi lengths “robes”; basically a dress, just a masculine term.
In Rome men were mini skirts.
All the way up in Scotland the men wore their kilt skirts.

If it’s about “religion”, there are quite a few. Amish, Muslim, Pentecostal Christian, Apostolic, Mennonite, etc.
What is the question for?
If it’s about pleasing God, then it should be something you do, or don’t do, because you love God and want to please Him.

Even Joan Rivers (on her syndicated talk show) stated “Everybody knows women wear dresses and men wear pants.”.
If worldly people know it to be a simple truth, we does God’s church act so stubborn about it?

Christian Scientists require women to wear skirts. So do the Mennonites. Certain branches of the Mormons do. Pentecostals and Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t really require it, but they do look down on women wearing pants.
In Islam women wearing pants is a major no-no. Same with some branches of Hinduism.

There are many churches that are accepting changes because it is not what you wear, or you make up or your style, it is what is in your heart and soul.
I am in the Pentecostal and woman do wear skirts and some wear pants. I wear pants. There are Baptist churches and other Christian churches that allow woman to wear pants as long as they are not tight.
The reason for the skirt or dress is because that is the traditon for the woman. Men wear pants and woman dresses or skirts which is the atire for each one. Many churches now are accepting changes because your faith, and belief in God and Jesus Crist is what counts, as long as you dress correctly. Pants but not tight, blouses but not see through or low cut. So as not to prevoke problems.

There’s a small sect of what I believe are Mennonites living in parts of the west, and the women wear floral dresses (it’s kind of cute to see the Moms and daughters dressed similarly), their hair up in a bun with a black covering over it. To the best of my knowledge, these people don’t have a church building, they meet in each other’s homes. Most of the men also have beards.

Friend You have over 1000 religions in this world, But there is only one Truth. I am a Christian for over 37 yrs. & I do not believe in women wearing pants, nor shorts, My wife is also a Christian but she was a Christian when we got married, I never one time told her how to dress or look, It was in her to do the things she now are doing, she has long hair, wears no make up, & wears long dresses, I am not a member of any denomination church, I am non denominatioal, But our beliefs are the same as the Apostles of Old. Where it says for a women to dress in modest apparel, By Faith we are Apostolic Pentacost & not by membership. we have no membership book in our church to sign, We don’t need one, because if we are truely a member of the Body of Christ we will see eye to eye, And our names was written down in the Book of life Before the foundation of the world. By the way we have been married for almost 17 yrs. & not one time have we ever argue over any scriptures, what is there to argue about, if we both have that same spirit of truth.

There are some very strict Pentacostal sub-denominations that prohibit it; also Anabaptists (i.e. Amish & Mennonites) prohibit women from wearing pants.
