Great trailer! It is still doing a wonderful job hauling around my Force Five Sail boat. It was manufactured in 1976. Galvanized.

Currently, I am fixing her up ( just a little rust) but with some grease and zinc paint, I bet it will be better than most new trailers.

Thanks Jack Green, I loved reading that! Now if I can just figure out how to replaced the wheel bearings on my Dilly D400(?) trailer with the 4 hole square wheel hubs.

jackgreen started building boat trailers and utility trailers in 1950 at a small shop in dallas at the corner of east Illinois ave. and overton rd.. they moved their small operation to Lancaster road about 2 miles south of loop 12. in 1955 meanwhile,. brother randall was discharged from the navy and came into the company. in 1961 the company moved to Lancaster and built a 40,000 sq. foot building at 2007 Lancaster hutchins road .they grew to be about the second largest boat trailer manufacturer in the country and were producing trailers by the thousands. in 1978 the company was purchased by a man from Europe and went into bankruptcy in about 5 years. in 1970 jack and randall built Lancaster airport and ran it until green and green was sold. they donated it debt free to the city of Lancaster in 1978.. to finish the story,when green and green was sold, randall retired and jack and son rodney started a co. in red oak, tx. on interstate 35 with a name of j-rod trailers inc. this company built truck beds and goose neck trailers for the next 20 years .j-rod was sold in 2001 and jack started a small co. in Italy,tx . jack now builds injection units for caterpillar tractors for injecting chemicals into the soil for stabalizing purposes.

Yes it is legal to make one. When you register it, it must be registered under a homemade trailor though. There is no law against making you own boat trailor. Just make sure you do it right! Make sure you have directionals on it, brake lights, tail lights, and marker lights, and make sure they all work. Yes there can be wood on it as long as it is build on a metal frame, not all just wood. There is no weight requirement, just make sure it fits your boat correctly, and make sure the trailor is strong enough for your boat. It also must have a serial number on its tongue because it must have one for the DMV to be able to register it.
