There’s a fish and a box, you put the fish in the box. Where’s the fish?

I need help with this riddle.

Inbetween the pieces of cardboard that make up the box.

There is no fish! Unless there is water inside the box.

Is this the Schrodinger’s fish paradox? The fish is both there and not there until you open the box and observe it.

I…don’t know. I looked back in the box. And it wasn’t there!

If somebody knows where my fish is, I would greatly appreciate it. I miss flipper :'(
