The inner serous pericardium has two thin layers that are the parietal pericardium lining the fibrous pericardium and visceral pericardium which is adhering to the heart. In, between these two layers is the pericardial space which is filled with pericardial fluid. Like the heart, the lung is covered by a thin transparent two-layered pleuron. The pleuron has the outer layer parietal pleura in association with the diaphragm and the inner visceral pleura in association with the lung. And the space between these two layers is the pleural space filled with pleural fluid to aid in the minimal friction movement of the lungs.
