I made a little animation in Maxon Cinema 4D but everytime I go to render the animation as a video, I always get an error message saying “Unable to write file.” My render settings are as follows:
Well, before anything, update the codec package. (google.com/search?q=k-lite+codec+pack+download)
Now reduce the settings to something like 480p.
Then set output to a different drive and then try again.
If it doesn’t take some time to render, it is not creating an avi file.
Try this, if you still can’t manage to render properly, reinstall c4d with all the appropriate external renderers.
Source(s): I use C4D.
It’s possible that you need to run it as administrator or have a “bunk” copy. Also, which I doubt this is the problem, but you may be using the wrong version, ie Cinema 4d 64-bit on only a 32-bit machine.

Cinema 4D: Unable to write file. How to fix?
Cinema 4D is a powerful 3D animation software that has become increasingly popular over the years. However, sometimes users run into problems when trying to write files. In this tutorial, we will show you how to fix Cinema 4D file writing issues.
What is Cinema 4D?
Cinema 4D is a 3D design and animation software that can be used to create realistic 3D images and videos.
If you are experiencing problems writing files in Cinema 4D, there are a few steps that you can take to fix the issue.
First, make sure that you have the latest version of Cinema 4D installed on your computer. If you are using an older version of Cinema 4D, you may experience problems writing files.
Second, make sure that your computer has enough free space on its hard drive. If your computer is running out of space, it may not be able to write files properly.
Finally, make sure that you are using the correct file format for your project. Some projects may require .c4d files while other projects may require .mbd files. Make sure that you are using the correct file format for your project before attempting to write it.
How can I fix an error that says I am unable to write a file?
If you are experiencing an error that says you are unable to write a file, there are several things that you can do to fix the problem.
The first thing that you can do is try to restart your computer. This will clear any errors that may be causing the problem and may allow you to write the file again.
Another option is to try to reformat your hard drive. This will erase all of the data on your hard drive and may allow you to write the file again.
If these measures fail, you can contact your computer manufacturer for assistance.
Troubleshooting Cinema 4D Errors
Sometimes when you’re working on a project in Cinema 4D, you’ll encounter an error message that says “unable to write file.” What does this mean and how can you fix it?
When you encounter an error like this, the most common solution is to reload your project. This will restore all of your changes so that you can continue working on your project.
If reloading your project doesn’t work, the next step is to try repairing your project. This process will attempt to fix any errors that are preventing you from saving your project.
If repairing your project still doesn’t work, then the last step is to restart Cinema 4D. This will force the software to re-read all of your files and try to fix any errors that were encountered.
