I know the answer is 4 512 545.9 miles / year but using dimensional analysis, how do you get that answer?

3.8 km/s * (1 mile / 1.609 km) * (3600 sec / hour) * (24 hours / day) * (365 days / year) = answer

I’m getting 7.4 x 10^7 miles/year.

The answer you “know” is wrong, unless I made some stupid mistake above. I double checked this. I have a PhD in physical chemistry, so I don’t think I’m wrong.

As per my calculation it should be 74298816 miles/year. (break up : 3.8 * 60 sec * 60 min. * 24 hrs * 365 days = 119836800 km. equ. to 74298816 miles)

### What our team says

# 3.8 km/sec to miles/year?

Have you ever wondered how long it would take to go from 3.8 km/sec to miles/year? Turns out, it’s a surprisingly difficult question to answer! In this article, we’ll explore the various factors involved in calculating the time required to travel a certain distance, and we’ll also provide a few helpful tips along the way. so whether you’re looking to learn more about speed calculations or just have some fun with math, this is definitely worth checking out!

## What is the difference between km/sec and miles/year?

One of the most common conversions between speeds is from kilometers per second (Km/sec) to miles per year. km/sec is a measure of how far and fast something is moving, while miles per year is a measure of how many road miles something has traveled.

In general, km/sec is larger than miles per year. For example, if someone speed walked from one side of the school to the other, their average walking speed would be around 1km/hr, but their total travel distance would only be around 0.5 miles. Conversely, if someone drove from one side of the school to the other, their average driving speed would be around 100km/hr, but their total travel distance would be around 500 miles.

## How to convert km/sec to miles/year

To convert km/sec to miles/year, multiply km/sec by 1.6046. This will give you the equivalent number of miles per year.

## Conclusion

What is the difference between 3.8 km/sec and miles/year? Both numbers are units of speed, but what do they actually represent? 3.8 km/sec means that the object is moving at this speed around a circular track. Miles per year, on the other hand, represents how far the object has traveled in one year (or 4,000 circular tracks).
